Application of SNCR through mid kiln injection to reduce NOx emissions in long dry or wet kiln procecess has been successfuly implemented in several installations in NA and EU. Reduction of more than 50% -70% is possible with limited ammonia slip.
Depending on the original kiln entry hood design structural modifications to hood may be necessary to accomodate the rotary seal and tube bundle.
Positioning the injection nozzles at the optimum 850-950C temperature zone in the kiln is most critical for achieving the optimum mixture between the kiln gases and aqua ammonia and to allow sufficient residency time to complete the reaction.
